Happy Birthday, Capricorn!

Happy Birthday, Capricorn!

Likes:

Reliability, professionalism, firm foundations, knowing what you discuss, purpose.

Dislikes:

Wild schemes, fantasies, go-nowhere jobs, ridicule.

We’re big on Cappies here at Sir A.

In fact, almost everyone here is a Capricorn, and for good reason: Cappies are known for being tireless workers. They’re fair, FUNNY, and have serious high standards for high quality. More than anything, though, Cappies are loyal to those they love- they will go to bat for anyone who has their heart, and the Cappy heart is often the most loving of the zodiac- even if they try to hide it behind sharp wit and sarcasm.

The Week Ahead for Capricorn:

Uranus and Pluto are at their controversial best, so be prepared to throw tradition to the winds, and allow events to unfold in their own unique way. There could be last moment developments that necessitate changes in your arrangements, and if you were hoping people would overlook an ‘elephant in the living room’, forget it. Then there’s a full moon on the relationship axis (30th).

All this could add up to one of the most memorable Christmases in recent years. Some Capricorns will be setting the seal on a love affair while others will be making big plans for the future. But should you feel poles apart from someone, remember New Year is just around the corner.

The Month Ahead for Capricorn:

Pay attention to health early in the month, and you’ll be in perfect shape for the festivities towards the end. You’re often at your most physically and emotionally vulnerable at this time, so pace yourself and refuse to get hot and bothered when plans change overnight or people delay a decision.

Seeds you are planting now, especially in regard to work, are taking root, although it maybe February before you see a result. Uranus and Pluto will preside over the Christmas and New Year celebrations, which means not everyone will be behaving well and any issues that have been pushed under the carpet will surely pop up at the most awkward moments. Still, as they say: it’s better out than in, and your reputation will not suffer from finally having the courage to tell it as it is.

The Year Ahead:

Capricorn people should be ready for a happening 2013. Its time to make some drastic changes in your life. You will focus sharply on your goals. You will also be greatly engrossed in office politics.  You may start believing in your gut feelings. You may take a keen interest in various forms of arts particularly music and poetry. There is also likely to be a change in office or residence. You will do something new in life, to get rid of the boring routine.

Wishing all of our Cappy friends a happy, healthy birthday!

It’s December 21st. And we’re still here!

…so…now what, Mayans?

Well, it seems the Mayan calendar has ended, and here we are: winter begins today, and we’re still standing (or at least, sitting. And reading!).

What to do with this new-found lease on life?

We have a few ideas up our collective sleeves…

And last but not least- celebrate the fact that you’re HERE!

Dishin’ it up for the holidays!

Oh, the holidays.

DIY holiday decor

Twinkling lights. Festive parties. And the nagging fear that you have to entertain a never-ending parade of guests while making it look effortless (we blame you, Martha!).

Never fear.

We’ve scoured through cookbooks, family recipes and the indispensable Pinterest for holiday recipes that even novice cooks can pull off. Our extensive research has led us to the following hypothesis: anything served in a ramekin immediately impresses those to whom it is served.

Enter Baked Apple Brulee, courtesy of the hunger-inducing www.dineanddish.net.

This delish dish looks impressive, but trust us: the most impressive part is the seven simple ingredients and five prep steps  that even we can master! Your guests will leave with full bellies and satisfied palettes, and will think you a kitchen genius. Enjoy.

Quote of the Day

Our hearts are with Newtown, CT

There aren’t enough words to describe the sorrow we are all feeling over the tragedy in Newtown.

There is nothing we can do to make this better; we can only remember the victims who were taken from their families, friends, classmates…too soon.

In remembering their names, as the NYT did on the front page on Sunday, we pay them tribute.

Newtown, our hearts break for…and with…you.

Top 5 Gifts for Your Sis!

Whether she’s the first one you call on a bad (and good!) day, or your sibling rivalry rivals that of a Real Housewives of New Jersey episode- it’s the holiday season, and that means laying down your arms long enough to gift your sis a fantastic little something.

Stumped on what to get your sis? We’re here to help! Our own sisters helped us weigh in on what they want this holiday. Here are their most wished for gifts:

1. OM Mantra Wrap in ‘Adore’

Show your sis how much you ‘Adore’ her with our OM Mantra Wrap!Rendered in a Wool/Silk blend, it’s light-as-air while still being cozy warm.

2. Lifetherapy Skin Nourishing Body Scrub

These body scrubs by Lifetherapy will slough off any dry winter skin and leave behind a buttery-soft glow. A favorite of the Sir A Crew!

3. Beda Black suede loafers with evil eye detail

We found these seriously cool shoes on Refinery 29, and have been cyber stalking them every 3 minutes. Can you blame us?

4. Elle King’s latest EP

Not that we EVER tire of listening to Adele- but Elle King has some serious pipes in her own right, and lyrics to back it up. Get your hairbrushes-cum-microphones ready- it’s time for an old-school sibling sing-off.

5. Astrology necklaces by Lady Kismet

Make it personal! Give her a sparkling necklace all her own (no sharing required!) with her own astro glyph design. It’s a one-size-fits-all and absolutely gorgeous gift.
